A spreadsheet tracking TikTok sound positions week by week

Also available in: Tiếng Việt

One sound radar run gives you today's ranking, and today's ranking says almost nothing. The value is in the difference between runs. The five-column sheet below preserves that difference and takes fifteen minutes to build.

Sheet structure

One row per sound. The columns:

A B C D E
Sound name Position this week Position last week Change Notes

Column D is a formula, assuming the first data row is row 2:

D2 = IF(OR(B2="", C2=""), "new", C2 - B2)

A positive number means climbing (from position 18 to position 6 is +12). Negative means falling. "new" means the sound was not in last week's chart — and that is the most interesting row.

The weekly routine

  1. Run sound radar — 8 credits, 30 sounds.
  2. Paste last week's column B into column C.
  3. Fill column B with the new results.
  4. Read column D.

Four steps, ten minutes, 8 credits a week. A year is about 416 credits and you have the full history.

How to read column D

Column D value Meaning Decision
"new" and entering mid-chart accelerating highest priority
large positive climbing usable
near zero, high position peaked use if you can shoot in a day or two
negative falling skip
gone from the chart finished delete the row, but keep it in an archive sheet

The "new, entering mid-chart" row is the most valuable. A sound entering at position 15 that was absent last week has just risen very fast.

One column to add after a few weeks

Add a "used yet" column. After two months you will not remember which sounds you already made a video with, and repeating is wasted effort. Mark the date used.

An archive sheet

Do not delete old data. Copy the sheet to an archive each week. After three months you can see the typical curve shape for your niche — see how long a sound lives — and that is something no tool sells you.

When this sheet does not help

If your production process takes more than a week from idea to post, a weekly sheet will not help much: every sound in it will have moved before you publish. In that case read by the "slow climb, long stay" shape rather than by position.

Frequently asked questions

Can I export the sheet from the tool? You can pull the data over the API if you want to automate it. For one run a week, pasting by hand is faster.

Are 30 sounds enough? That is the real per-run limit. For tracking direction of travel, the top 30 is the part that matters.

Which day of the week should I run it? The same day every week, so the comparison holds. Which day matters less than being consistent.
