Parenting creators: why high engagement converts poorly

The parenting niche usually shows the highest engagement rates of any consumer niche, because the content touches real anxiety and the audience has questions to ask. But high engagement here is usually asking for reassurance, not readiness to buy — and that gap disappoints a lot of campaigns.
Why engagement does not become orders
Purchase decisions here are careful. Buyers read several sources, ask friends, and wait for a promotion. One video is not enough to close, unlike snack food or accessories.
The heaviest commenters are usually not the heaviest buyers. Someone writing a long question is still researching; buyers are often silent.
Many comments are parents asking each other. High engagement, unrelated to the product.
How to check: run comments analysis — 12 credits, 300 comments — and sort manually into three groups: questions about the product, general experience questions, and praise. The share of the first group is the real signal.
Three ways to pick better
Choose channels with content series, not one-off videos. A channel with a series on one topic (weaning, sleep, vaccinations) builds trust, and trust is what sells here.
Choose by the child's age, not by channel size. Followers of a channel about six-month-olds will not buy for a four-year-old. Check with audience analysis — 12 credits — and by the topics of the 60 most recent videos in channel report, 5 credits.
Prefer channels that answer comments. Read the creator's replies: someone answering each question has real influence over purchase decisions.
A note on content involving children
This niche touches data about children, so be more careful than usual. CIA returns only what a channel displays publicly, and for commenters only a display name and the text — no email, no phone number, no profile.
Anyone has the right to see, correct or delete data about themselves under Decree 13/2023/ND-CP at the data request page. An account that has asked to be blocked is refused before anybody's credits are charged.
Frequently asked questions
So should I book in this niche at all? Yes, but set expectations on a longer cycle. A three-month campaign with the same few channels usually beats a one-month burst.
Which metric is most reliable here? The share of comments asking about the product, read manually from 300 comments.
Is high engagement a sign of bought engagement? Not necessarily — this niche is naturally high. See seven signs to tell the difference.
