A seasonal content calendar for the Vietnamese market

Most content calendars circulating online are translated from English, so they have Black Friday and Halloween but not Tet, the seventh-month full moon, or the Vietnamese school-year rhythm. The right approach is to build the calendar from your own last year's data.
Why a copied calendar does not work
Three reasons:
Different seasonal rhythm. Lunar New Year moves each year and pulls a whole month before it along with it.
Industries are offset from each other. Gift categories start before food categories; school supplies start before both.
Marketplace sale days do not line up with public holidays. The monthly sale days have their own rhythm.
Four markers per season
Marker 1 — when content on the topic starts appearing.
Marker 2 — when competition peaks.
Marker 3 — when demand peaks.
Marker 4 — when it ends.
All four are measurable by running tools periodically through the season and recording, rather than by guessing.
How to measure
| What | Tool | Price | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seasonal products appearing | TikTok Shop radar | 15 credits, 3 pages | fortnightly |
| Sounds tied to the season | Sound radar | 8 credits, 30 sounds | weekly |
| What the country is watching | YouTube trends | 8 credits | weekly |
| What competitors are posting | Competitor watch | 249 credits / 30 days, 5 channels | continuous |
For a three-month season, the first three tools come to about 200 credits and give you a calendar reusable next year. See also seasonal products.
Calendar structure
One row per season, six columns:
| Season | Marker 1 | Marker 2 | Marker 3 | Marker 4 | Content already used |
|---|
The last column becomes the most valuable in year two: it tells you which content has already run and how it did, so you do not repeat something that did not work.
Work backwards from marker 2
Your production schedule should work backwards from marker 2, not marker 3. When competition peaks, your content has to already be up, not in the edit.
For a small team, three weeks back is sensible: one week to prepare, one to shoot and edit, one as buffer for whatever goes wrong.
What a calendar cannot do
A calendar gives you timing, not content. The ideas still have to come from elsewhere: from your customers' comments, from the questions they keep asking. See content ideas from comments.
Frequently asked questions
Is last year's calendar still valid? The timing usually repeats; the specific content does not. Use the calendar for timing.
Is there a template to download? No. A generic template would be wrong for most industries. The six columns above are the structure for you to fill.
Which season should I start measuring? The one that matters most to your industry, and do one season well before doing the year.
