Food creators: which metrics predict sales

Food video is the easiest content type to get high views on and the easiest to get no customers from: people watch because they like looking at food, not because they intend to eat out. For a business with a storefront, the three signals below separate entertainment channels from ones that actually bring people to the door.
Three signals of footfall
1. Comments asking for the address and opening hours. The strongest signal and directly readable. Someone asking "where is this place" intends to go. Run comments analysis — 12 credits, 300 comments — on two or three videos about venues and count that kind of question.
2. A high save rate. People who save a restaurant video usually save it to go later. Saving takes more effort than liking, so it is harder to buy and more trustworthy.
3. Viewers in the right area. A Ho Chi Minh City food channel whose audience is mostly in Hanoi will not bring customers to your District 3 venue. Check with audience analysis, 12 credits.
The third signal is the most overlooked in this niche, and the most common reason a "million-view" campaign produces no visible customers.
Three signals not to trust here
Views alone. Food video is pushed very widely. Views speak to visual appeal, not to intent to visit.
Follower count. See why median views matter more.
Generic praise in the comments. "Looks delicious" is not purchase intent. Count the address questions separately.
Combining with venue data
This niche has an advantage: your venue and your competitors are all on Google Maps. After a campaign, Google Maps reviews — 15 credits, 200 reviews, runs in the background — shows whether any new review mentions the video or the creator.
That is the closest you get to measuring real effect, though it is still not causal evidence. See also reading a competitor's reviews.
For review authors the tool returns only a display name and the text — no email, no phone number. Phone numbers exist only for the business itself.
Frequently asked questions
Can I measure how many customers came from a video? Not directly. The closest options are a unique discount code per creator, or asking "how did you hear about us" at the counter.
Can I find which places are being filmed most? Yes, with TikTok places — 6 credits, 2 pages. It returns locations with many videos tagged there, along with rating and review count.
One large channel or three small ones nearby? For a storefront, three small ones in the same area usually work better, because the audience is local. See choosing a tier.
