Social Networks in Vietnam: What Public Data Can You Read?

Each social network exposes a different slice of public data. With CIA's profile report tools, one run reads up to 45 TikTok videos, 50 YouTube or Instagram posts, or 25 Threads posts. Every figure is an estimate from what the platform shows publicly, not the channel owner's internal numbers.

Which social networks are most used in Vietnam?

DataReportal's Digital 2026: Vietnam report (Simon Kemp, published 8 Nov 2025) found 79.0 million social media user identities in Vietnam in October 2025. In its words: "79.0 million active social media user identities in Vietnam in October 2025". That is equivalent to "77.6 percent" of Vietnam's total population at the end of 2025.

That is a count of identities, not people: someone who uses two networks, or holds two accounts on the same network, can be counted more than once. Source: DataReportal, accessed 28 Oct 2026.

This article does not rank networks by user count. The question for a KOC (key opinion consumer, a smaller creator than a KOL), an agency or a seller is a different one: on each platform, what data can you read about an account, and how far does it go?

Which platforms does this article cover?

The scope is publicly posted content, meaning anything a person can view without logging in to that account. Private messages and closed groups are outside the scope of every CIA tool.

The table below covers the profile report tools built for individual platforms, the combined multi-platform report, and Google Maps reviews. CIA also reads public data from many other platforms: see the Features page for the full list.

Google Maps is not a social network in the usual sense, but reviews there are public content written by users. That is why it has a row in the table.

How much does each profile report read per run?

Platform What it reads (public) Max per run Credits Tool page
TikTok Channel profile and latest videos 45 videos 5 Channel Report
YouTube Channel profile and latest videos 50 posts 5 YouTube Channel Report
Instagram Profile and latest posts 50 posts 6 Instagram Profile Report
Threads Profile and latest posts 25 posts 5 Threads Profile Report
Several platforms combined (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Threads…) One creator across platforms, side by side up to 12–20 posts per platform 20 Multi-platform KOC Report
Google Maps (not a social network) Reviews of one place 200 reviews 15 Google Maps Reviews

TikTok

The Channel Report reads a channel's public videos. CIA cannot read private videos, messages, or the numbers in a channel owner's own dashboard. 45 videos is the most recent slice: enough to see the current trend, not enough to rebuild a whole year. How to read each metric is covered in analyse a TikTok channel.

YouTube

The tool reads the videos a channel has posted publicly. Revenue, traffic sources and watch time live in the owner's own dashboard, so they are not in the report. A detailed walkthrough is in read a YouTube channel.

Instagram

Only public profiles can be read. If an account is private, the tool cannot read any posts, and the credits are refunded. See also read an Instagram profile.

Threads

The tool reads a profile's public posts, up to 25 per run. For an account that posts several times a day, 25 posts is only a short, most recent stretch, so do not draw conclusions about a whole year from one run. How to read a Threads profile is in read Threads profiles.

Google Maps

Each review has only a display name and its text. No email, phone number or profile of the reviewer. The phone number on a place's page is the business's public line, not a person's.

Single platform or combined: which tool should you use?

Analysing social media data starts from the question you need answered, not from the tool.

  • Weighing up one channel on one platform. Use that platform's own tool. You get up to 25–50 posts to work with, depending on the platform, enough to see the median views instead of being fooled by one viral video.
  • Comparing one creator who appears on several platforms. Use the multi-platform KOC report: enter the same person's accounts on each platform, for example TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Threads, and get the platforms side by side in one report. The trade-off is that each platform gets up to 12–20 posts, fewer than the dedicated tool.
  • Finding out what customers say about a shop. Google Maps reviews, up to 200 reviews per run.

The article creators across platforms goes into when a creator is strong on one platform but weak on another, and how to read that gap.

How reliable is the public data read here?

Every figure CIA returns is an estimate from what the platform shows publicly. It is not the channel owner's internal data, not the platform's own numbers, and nobody audits it. A run reading up to 12–50 posts is the most recent slice of an account, not its full history. The article what public data means explains what "public" includes and what it does not.

The profiles in these reports belong to real people. Anyone has the right to ask for data about them to be deleted, or to object to their account being analysed, through the data request page. A blocked account is refused, and the person running the report does not lose credits for that run.

Use a report to pick the right channel, then get in touch through the public channel the creator has chosen to publish. CIA does not look up anyone's personal email or phone number.

What can CIA not do with these platforms?

  • It does not read messages, private accounts or closed groups.
  • It has no internal numbers such as revenue, reach or traffic sources.
  • It does not check whether an account is still active or has been locked.
  • It does not read a whole account: up to 12–50 posts per run depending on the tool, and 200 reviews for Google Maps.
  • It does not look up personal emails or phone numbers.
  • It has no tool for Zalo.

How many credits does a multi-platform report cost, and where does it stop?

The multi-platform KOC report costs 20 credits once for the whole report, not per platform. Each platform reads up to 12–20 posts. The report runs in the background, so the result does not appear the moment you click.

The report has one time limit for the whole run. A platform that responds slowly may be skipped, and the report is marked as incomplete. If no platform returns any posts, you get a full credit refund; if at least one platform has posts, the run is still charged.

See the tool description on the Multi-platform KOC Report page, and credit packs on the pricing page.

FAQ

Which social network is the most popular in Vietnam?

This article does not rank by user count. The one sourced figure we cite is the total of social media user identities in DataReportal's Digital 2026: Vietnam report, published in November 2025. To compare individual networks, open the original report and read closely how they count.

Can CIA read Zalo?

No. CIA currently has no tool for Zalo.

Can it read private accounts or messages?

No. Every tool reads only what an account shows publicly. With the profile report tools for individual platforms, if an account is private, no posts can be read and the credits are refunded. In the multi-platform report, that platform is marked as a private account, and the run is still charged if another platform has posts. Messages on any platform are out of scope.

What do I need at minimum to analyse social media data?

Three things: pick the platform where your customers actually watch, read enough posts to see the account's usual level, and look at median views instead of one viral video. The two articles read a YouTube channel and read an Instagram profile walk through each step.

How many posts can one run read at most?

TikTok up to 45 videos, YouTube 50 posts, Instagram 50 posts, Threads 25 posts. The multi-platform report reads up to 12–20 posts per platform. Google Maps reviews read up to 200 reviews. These are per-run limits, not the whole account.

What if I do not want my data read?

Send a request on the data request page. You can ask for data about you to be deleted, or object to your account being analysed. A blocked account is refused, and the person running the report does not lose credits for that run.
