Which live time slots have an audience: measuring it yourself

Every article about "the golden hour to go live on TikTok" names a different time, and none says where the data came from. The reason is simple: the best slot depends on your niche and on when your competitors are live. Both of those you can measure yourself in a week.
Why a general golden hour is not usable
Three reasons:
Each niche has a different audience. Parents are free while the child naps; tech buyers are free late in the evening.
Competition matters more than traffic. The hour with the most viewers is also the hour with the most shops live. An hour with fewer viewers and no competitors can be better.
Slots shift with the season. A month with a big sale day looks nothing like an ordinary month.
The one-week measurement
Pick the 5 competitors closest to you. Run live radar — 10 credits per run, up to 5 channels — at three times a day, on three days: two weekdays and one weekend day.
Nine runs is 90 credits. Record:
| Hour | Day | Channels live | Total viewers | Channel with most viewers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| noon | Tuesday | |||
| 8pm | Tuesday | |||
| 10pm | Tuesday | |||
| ... |
How to read the table
Many viewers, few channels live — try this slot first. There is an audience and little competition.
Many viewers, many channels live — a genuine peak, but you need standout content to break through.
Few viewers — skip, unless you notice one channel going live there consistently and still drawing a crowd. Then go and watch what they do.
The most useful figure in the table is viewers divided by channels live: it approximates the audience one session could win in that slot.
After you pick a slot
Go live there three times before concluding. A single session is affected by too many other things: product, content, weather, some event.
Then measure again in three months. Competitors are optimising too, and today's empty slot can be crowded next quarter.
Frequently asked questions
Does the tool show a competitor's live schedule? No. It shows status at the moment you run it. The schedule is something you build by running it repeatedly.
Is 90 credits worth it? Against one four-hour session in the wrong slot, yes. But if you are just starting, run a few sessions first and measure later.
Can I measure my own customers' active hours? Public data does not show that. The closest proxy is the timestamps of comments on your own videos.
