Beauty advertising: the pattern currently running

Beauty advertises more than any other industry and is also the most tightly moderated on the platforms. Together those two facts create a specific convention: effective ads in this industry name a very specific problem and describe results very cautiously. Reading the pattern keeps you from doing the opposite.
Reading the industry pattern
Ads library — 15 credits, 3 pages — returns top TikTok ads by country and industry. Run it for beauty in Vietnam, take the first 20 ads, and count four things:
- How many open with a close-up of a skin problem.
- How many show a before and after.
- How many discuss ingredients.
- How many state a specific time frame.
The ratio of those four is the industry's current convention. Going against it is not automatically wrong, but you should know that you are.
Two very different audiences
The beauty niche has two kinds of buyer, and the advertising for them differs completely:
Buyers who buy on feel. They care about texture, scent, how it sits on the skin, who uses it. Ads for them use images and real people.
Buyers who buy on ingredients. They care about concentration, pH, layering order. Ads for them use text and numbers.
Find out which your audience is with comments analysis — 12 credits, 300 comments — on your own video or your nearest competitor's. If comments are all about ingredients while your ads talk about feel, that is the gap.
Three content limits to remember
Do not promise a treatment outcome. "Whiter skin in 7 days" is both likely to be rejected by the platform and likely to lose experienced buyers.
Before-and-after comparisons must be your own real images. Using somebody else's photos is a copyright matter, and taking images off the internet is a more serious one. See the copyright article.
Do not use a customer's review without permission. The customer filmed it, so they hold the rights. Ask by message and keep the message.
Combining with creator data
This industry runs advertising and bookings in parallel, so read both sides. Once you have the ad pattern, choose creators for the same audience type using building a beauty creator list.
Frequently asked questions
Can I tell which beauty brand runs the most TikTok ads? Not by name. The ads library returns top ads by industry and country, not a brand lookup. See the reason.
Can I look up a beauty brand's Facebook ads? Yes, with multi-platform ad radar — 20 credits, 60 ads, runs in the background.
Is the data official platform analytics? No. It is an estimate from public data the ad libraries display.
