Product photos and titles: learning from shops that are selling

The best-selling shop in your niche has tested titles and photos more times than you will, and the results are public. The job is not to copy but to find the repeated pattern across several best-selling shops — a repeated pattern is something the market has already validated.
Getting the sample
Run TikTok Shop radar — 15 credits, 3 pages — with your product keyword. Take the 10 products with the highest units sold and write down all ten titles.
Six patterns that usually repeat in titles
1. The keyword buyers type comes first. Not the brand name, not "HOT SALE". The thing customers type into search.
2. One quantified specification. Capacity, dimensions, quantity per box. It answers the first question a customer has.
3. One word about who it is for. "for oily skin", "for six-month-olds", "for beginners".
4. Not many special characters. Titles stuffed with emoji and dashes are usually not in the best-selling group.
5. No promised outcome. "Whiter skin in 7 days" both risks being reported and makes experienced buyers distrust you.
6. The most important variant is in the title. The most common colour or size goes in the title; the rest live in the variant selector.
If a pattern appears in only one of ten shops, that is their individual choice, not something validated. Only take patterns that appear in the majority.
Photos: three things readable from best-sellers
What the first photo is. Product on white, product in use, or product with text. All three appear among best-sellers depending on the niche — count which way yours leans.
Whether any photo answers a complaint. A size table with real measurements, a photo comparing size to a familiar object, a close-up of the material. Those photos exist because somebody once complained.
How many photos there are. Best-selling shops usually have more than the minimum.
What to fix first
Compare your title and photos against two sources: the repeated patterns above, and your complaint-theme table from comments analysis — 12 credits, 300 comments.
The highest-count complaint theme is usually fixable with one photo or one line of description. Do that first, because it is the cheapest and takes effect immediately. See grouping comments into themes.
Checking your fix worked
Record units sold and the number of repeated questions in your messages before the change. Count again two weeks later. If repeated questions fell, your description is answering them.
Frequently asked questions
Can I copy a competitor's title? Do not. Taking the general pattern is fine; copying the text is both useless for search and makes your shop look like a knock-off.
Can I see when a shop changed its title? No. Public data is the current state.
Can I use a competitor's photos? No. That is their content. See the copyright article.
